Do I Need This?

Do I need to report my crypto taxes to the IRS? Yes. The IRS treats cryptocurrency as property, meaning all crypto transactions are subject to tax reporting
requirements. You must report all sales, trades, and income-generating activities. The IRS digital asset question
on Form 1040 requires you to disclose if you received, sold, or disposed of crypto—even if you didn't profit.
Failure to report can result in penalties.
Do I need to report crypto losses on my taxes? Yes—and you should. Crypto capital losses can offset capital gains and up to $3,000 of ordinary income per year.
Unused losses carry forward indefinitely. Reporting your crypto losses now using Form 8949 and Schedule D can
reduce your tax liability in future years.
Are crypto-to-crypto trades taxable?
Yes. Any crypto-to-crypto trade is a taxable event. Swapping SOL for USDC, buying a memecoin with SOL, or trading
tokens on a Solana DEX all trigger capital gains tax. Each trade must be reported

How to Get Started with Netrunner

Follow these steps to set up your Netrunner account, subscribe, configure your tax settings, and begin generating tax reports.

Step 1 — Visit Netrunner Website

Go to the Netrunner homepage
Click the Get Started button to begin

Step 2 — Sign In to Netrunner

You’ll be prompted to sign in
Choose whether you’d like to connect with Google, Discord or Connect Wallet

Step 3 — Select Your Account

If signing in with Google: Select the Google account you wish to use for Netrunner
If signing in with Discord: Enter your Discord login (email/username) and password to proceed
If signing in with Connect Wallet: Select wallet that you want to connect (this login type is recommended for mobile users, however if user later wants to access Netrunner on PC then it must import mobile wallet to PC)

Step 4 — Choose a Plan

You’ll be directed to the subscription options
Select the subscription plan that is best suited for your needs
Click Select Plan to continue

How to Select Your Cost Basis Method

Everything you need to know regarding cost basis options in Netrunner.

Open Settings

From the Dashboard, go to the right-hand panel.

Click Settings to expand the menu.

Locate Cost Method Dropdown

Under the Tax Settings section, find the Cost Method menu.

Options vary depending on your country of tax residence.

Select Your Method (By Country)

Use the menu to select the cost basis method required or allowed in your country.

If your country only supports one method, it will be applied automatically.

Apply Changes

Once you’ve selected the method, Netrunner recalculates your entire transaction history accordingly.

This ensures your reports align with your country’s compliance rules.

Generate Reports with Selected Method

When you download your tax reports, Netrunner will apply your chosen cost basis method automatically.

You can re-run reports if you switch methods later.

Invite third party or accountant to Netrunner

This article explains how to invite colleagues or your accountant to Netrunner in order to get help with Solana Taxes.

n order to achieve this you need to have an active subscription to Netrunner V2. If you are an accountant and have multiple clients you want to sign up for an account, just reach out to us directly info@netrunner.tax or on Discord.

You can always remove invited users from your Netrunner.

How many members can I invite to Netrunner?

For now you can invite an unlimited number of members to your Netrunner account.

If you have logged in with Connect Wallet

If you have used Connect Wallet to log in to Netrunner then you need to connect your account with Google or Discord to be able to invite members. Go to Settings then Account Settings in left menu. Now you see options to connect Google or Discord, select what you prefer and finish the process.

Understanding Your Dashboard

The Netrunner dashboard is your main hub for viewing and managing your Solana tax data. Here’s a breakdown of each section and what it means for you.

Taxes Dashboard Overview

At the top of your dashboard rounded with red, you’ll see Selected Tax Year, Capital Gains, Net Income, Net Expenses, and Total Transactions.
This area provides the key details needed to file your taxes in your local jurisdiction.
The Transactions Labeled bar shows the percentage of your transactions that have been categorised.

Portfolio Review

The Portfolio Review section shows your connected wallets, number of transactions, net gain/loss, and reconciliation progress.
Use the Manage Wallets button to add or adjust wallets and exchanges at any time.

Capital Gains Section

This section provides a detailed look at your realised gains or losses.
If no data is available, it means transactions need to be added or synced.

Income & Expenses

The Income & Expenses section summarises all income earned and expenses recorded across your wallets and exchanges.
