V1 vs V2: What Changed and Why Data Migration Isn't Possible

Quick Answer

Netrunner V2 is a complete rebuild from scratch. V1 and V2 use entirely different technical architectures, which means your V1 data cannot be imported into V2. V1's indexer and labelling produced a lot of errors requiring lots of manual rework. Rather than piggy backing those errors into V2, V2 saves will reindex your transactions and categorise them accurately.

What this means for you: You'll need to re-add your wallets in V2. The good news—V2 syncs all your historical transactions automatically once you add your wallet addresses.

Why We Rebuilt Netrunner

V1 launched in 2022. It worked, but the underlying technology couldn't scale. As Solana DeFi grew more complex—perps, lending protocols, liquidity pools—V1 hit its limits.

V2 launched December 13, 2025. We rebuilt the entire system using Rust and modern infrastructure. This wasn't an upgrade. It was a new product built from the ground up.

Why V1 Data Can't Be Imported

The technical reasons:

  1. Different data structures. V1 and V2 store transactions in fundamentally different formats. There's no clean way to convert one to the other without risking data integrity.
  2. New labeling system. V2 uses improved transaction categorization with deeper protocol-level understanding. V1 labels don't map directly to V2's system.
  3. Recalculation required. V2 recalculates everything from on-chain data—cost basis, gains, losses—using updated logic. Importing data from V1 would introduce cost basis and proceeds errors, which defeats the purpose of V2.

What You Need to Do

  1. Create a new account on V2 (or log in if you already have one)
  2. Add your Solana wallet addresses — just copy/paste, no wallet connection required
  3. Wait for sync — V2 pulls all historical transactions automatically
  4. Review and reconcile — check flagged transactions and reach 100% progress

V2 syncs your complete transaction history from the blockchain—going back to 2021 or earlier if needed.
